About us

“HER” documentary highlights the stories of heroic women who shattered barriers to achieve excellence in their fields, while also advancing the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals with their work. Each woman is from a different part of the world, all with different backgrounds, cultures, and religions. “HER” is produced in collaboration with the United Nations Peacekeeping Force in Cyprus, the embassy of the State of Qatar, Washington, DC, UNOP, UN WOMEN, UNITAR, and UNDPI.

Why is this documentary important?

After our documentary, A Call for Peace, we realized that finding women who were the face of negotiations was extremely challenging. Women were always key to successful peace processes, but never at the forefront. HER explores the backgrounds of women heroes who have a meaningful impact on their communities, countries, as well as globally. We examine their perspectives on the work and turning point in their lives to give up everything they had to empower others.

It is not only the struggle of overcoming the cultural differences challenging the structures of inequality and questioning hierarchies that historically privilege men. The relevance of gender equality is of tremendous importance as well as having women involved in all 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) of the UN. Women’s participation “is not just a women’s issue, [it’s] a peace and security issue.” The women’s role in building strong and stable societies is key.

HER highlights the stories of four heroic women who shattered barriers to achieve excellence in their fields. All four women, from different parts of the world, and different backgrounds, culture and religions, continue to make an impact in their communities and on the global stage, while also advancing the SDGs with their work.
